We carved the balustrade for the ringing gallery at East Raynham church, near Fakenham in Norfolk. In solid oak, the gallery is an extension of the existing tower screen, I am trying to make the balustrade fairly open to enable the beautiful stained glass in the wall behind to be seen, The tracery follows the traditional pattern and will include leaf corner pieces, each carved with a different pattern as in the screen. The central circular panels will be fretted and carved with George and the Dragon, a Fleur de leys and Stag. The front section here is 2.5 metres long.
The balustrade is in and looks great. I will take finished photo's now the scaffold is down, When I get a chance. (Could be a while!)
