Gerald gained a B A degree in Fine Art at Exeter College of Art in 1975 where he also became interested in making musical instruments. After several happy years making Hurdy Gurdys, Citterns, and other folk instruments, and running a repair shop in Norwich, he became interested in furniture and woodcarving. He started working for a well known Norfolk furniture maker and studied woodcarving, part time at the London College of Furniture. In 1986 he set up on his own, as a woodcarver and quickly gained a reputation amongst the local furniture makers for a fast, reliable, quality service. Now, with long standing and recent help from Matthew taken on as a trainee in 1993, Val also 1993. Gerald Adams Woodcarvers produces components and small furniture for customers from far and wide. A recent upsurge in Church work has produced some very exciting and rewarding projects from the design stage through to completion. We are finding that customers are relying on us more and more for design and inspiration. Long may it continue.
